There were two very similar cars made a few years apart and they still cause confusion among collectors today. This darker blue version is the earlier of the two and came with a non-moving body and driver's head. It also did NOT have a vertical paddle (nor could the paddle from the later version be fitted onto it). The differences between the two vehicles is more clearly explained on the Alphadrome website.
The car comes with an ON/OFF switch, a switch to engage/disengage the rear wheels and a switch to increase the air flow that made the small Styrofoam ball float (ball no longer present). These can be obtained in various sizes at most handicraft stores.
All the functions work properly (the light is somewhat temperamental) and all of the components are present, including the hubcaps.
There is a stress inner crack in the lighted plastic cylinder. The paint finish in very good to excellent condition, with many coarse blemishes in various places. The toy takes 3 D cell batteries and the compartment is largely clean, with only a hint of rust present. This being said, the toy is one of the more impressive Robby space vehicles out there and has been very difficult to find in more recent years.
