The dragonfly (kachimushi) was noted for flying forward and never retreating and thus associated with the heroic samurai spirit.
Raden inlay with iridescent mother-of-pearl shell evoke the movement of the red urushi lacquer dragonflies. An outstanding piece of magnificent size and appearance, beautifully decorated by the Maki-e master Yasanuri Sakumoto using the Togidashi Maki-e and Raden techniques on a smooth black urushi lacquer.
The Emperor is definitely a must own for serious Maki-e enthusiasts.
This pen has never been used and is in perfect condition, it comes with original documents and presentation boxes. It has a Medium solid 18k gold nib. Our images accurately represent product for sale!
